Terms of service

Last updated 7 September 2026. These terms apply to every business and every proposer using Company Ontology.

1. What this service is

Company Ontology lets a business record the state of its company, disclose selected evidence, and publish an opportunity that outside proposers can analyze and respond to. The service records and structures information; it does not provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice.

2. Accounts and companies

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. A company workspace is controlled by its owner, who decides who is a member and what each member may do. You are responsible for everything done under your account.

3. What a business discloses

A business chooses exactly which evidence is disclosed, to whom, and under which terms. Public disclosure packages are visible to anyone. Restricted packages are visible only after the business grants access. You must not disclose information you are not entitled to disclose.

4. What a proposer submits

A proposal is a record of reasoning: the problem it addresses, the mechanism, the expected effect, the budget and the stop conditions. You must not misrepresent your evidence, your identity, or your relationship to the business. Related-party relationships must be declared.

5. Access grants and confidentiality

Access to restricted evidence is granted for the stated purpose only, may be time-limited, and may be revoked. You must not copy, redistribute or repurpose disclosed evidence beyond that purpose, and you must accept the disclosure terms attached to the grant before viewing it.

6. Engagements, payment and outcomes

Any commercial arrangement between a business and a proposer is between those parties. Company Ontology records the engagement, its authorized budget, its stop conditions and its measured outcome; it is not a party to the agreement and does not process payment between them.

7. Published results

A result card is published only with the field-level approval of the business, and carries a verification label describing how the outcome was established. A result may be retracted with a recorded reason; retracted results stop being publicly visible.

8. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access data you were not granted, probe or disrupt the service, scrape it at scale, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend an account that does.

9. No warranty and limitation of liability

The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions taken on the basis of information recorded in the service.

10. Changes and contact

We may change these terms; material changes will be announced in the product. Questions go to the contact page.
